๐ก As you might already know, not all sound recordings are suitable for distribution to DSPs that handle user-generated content (UGC) such as YouTube Content ID, Facebook Rights Manager, and TikTok. (See Unauthorized content for UGC DSPs)
New DSP: TikTok Scanning (TTS)
TikTok Scanning (TTS) is a new service to indicate which sound recordings are suitable for scanning UGC videos to apply a monetize or block policy.
Purpose:
Allows music to be available on TikTok even if it does not comply with all UGC requirements
Ensures tracks distributed without scanning rights can still be included in TikTok videos but will not claim other UGC videos
Benefits:
Compliance with UGC DSP requirements
Ensures only fully-owned, exclusive, and distinct tracks are used to claim UGC videos
Important Note:
TTS will not appear as a separate DSP option on the stores' list. Only TikTok will be displayed, and distribution will be updated to handle both types of content:
Tracks fit for inclusion in TikTok videos
Tracks that meet criteria to scan and claim UGC videos
Enhanced Track Copyright Information
To enhance track metadata and comply with the new TTS requirements, starting on June 20th, two new sets of fields will be added to the copyright section of the Track metadata page:
Track Origin to address the copyrights of the composition
Track Properties to address the copyrights of the recording
Benefits:
These new fields provide a better description of sound recordings and their compositions, improve the inspection process, and ensure compliance with DSP requirements. This helps determine if certain licenses are needed and if the track is suitable for UGC/rights management DSPs.
