FAQs

Does Family in Music provide access to unique codes (ie: Apple track ID's, Spotify URI)?

For all DSPs that provide a method to obtain a URI or a weblink, we retrieve those and display them in the Distribution section. If you need a code prior to release, you can send a request to our team here.

Does Family in Music provide a way to setting up pre-orders?

Yes. You can choose to set up a pre-order date when distributing your release.

Why is my release live on Shazam before the release date?

This is just how Shazam works: they don’t respect release dates. But you can’t play the song yet… If you don't want it to appear at all before the release date, you must not send it to Shazam before that date.

What happens to my chart history/rankings, playlist placement, etc when transferring distribution to Family in Music?

When migrating catalogs, the only major DSP that loses some historical data/rankings is iTunes/Apple Music. If the UPC-ISRCs and metadata remain the same, the merge should be complete and chart history & popularity should be retained but ratings & reviews will be lost.

For other DSPs, as long as UPC-ISRCs and metadata are all the same (and in the case of Spotify, you also need the track length and version info to be the same); all ‘ranking’ is preserved.

Please refer to this article for detailed guidance on how to transfer music to family in Music.

How long does it take for my releases to reach stores?

Once a release is created and distributed, it takes up to 7 days to go live, although it could go live sooner depending on the DSP.

Do you distribute to YouTube Content ID?

Yes, we deliver to YouTube Content ID. We don't provide a UI for direct claim management. Our team handles this directly and reaches out to you in the event of an issue with your content.

Will my music be available on TikTok and Instagram?

Yes, we distribute to TikTok and Instagram, including Facebook Rights Manager, which ensures that your music can be available on both platforms, TikTok and Meta Platforms.

What information would you need exactly from us for the transfer from our distributor/aggregator?

Reach out to our Support Team here. You'll need to tell us what distributor you are currently using and the number of assets you are looking to migrate so we can share the best method with you directly.
